MILOSH
Canada's Mike Milosh has been making music as early as the age of three, learning to play the cello, eventually becoming classically trained. Drums and vocal talents would emerge later in college, during which he would perform in various rock and jazz bands. He would set out on his own in 2004, with the release of his debut album, You Make Me Feel. It was with this album that he set the template for his brand of music: downtempo, soulful electronic atmospheres, inspired by groups like Boards of Canada, or Autechre, layered with jazz-inspired beats, and mournful, crooned vocals.
Milosh would go on to release two more albums in 2006 and 2008, (Meme and iii respectively.) which along with You Make Me Feel would reach great critical acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork, Popmatters, and various others. In 2010, he took a break from his solo career to collaborate with Robin Hannibal (One half of the Danish production duo Quadron) to form the alt-soul group Rhye. Their 2013 debut Woman reached new heights of critical acclaim, earned the duo a Polaris Music Prize nomination, and further propelled Milosh to new heights of fame.
With 2013 now coming to a close, the world will see the release of Jet Lag, from Deadly Imprint, Milosh's latest solo album in 5 years. Further building on his trademark brand of ethereal electronica, the album has been described by Milosh as a collaboration and romantic tribute to the love he shares with his wife: actress & director Alexa Nicolas. Various intimate moments are interspersed into the albums' beats and rhythms throughout, and paint a profound picture, bolstered by Milosh's jazzy, soulful vocals of yearning and romance.
Jet Lag is shipping soon on compact disc and vinyl LP from Traffic Entertainment.
EARLY PRESS FOR JET LAG
"…much of Jet Lag's lyrics slide between romantic and erotic, full of longing, discreetly laced with sexually suggestive content. It all adds up to a sophisticated electronic pop album with a serious lingering effect."
– AllMusic.com (4 out of 5 Stars)
"…that steely pallor of fuzzed-out synth lines, muffled hand-claps, and solo piano doesn’t make the result any less cozy — this is a soundtrack to gray skies and long days lost indoors with a loved one…"
– SPIN
"As the vocalist of Rhye, Mike Milosh already put out one of the year’s best records with Woman and now delivers again with this disc filled with languorous, minimalist electronic-based tracks…"
